In
733 the beautiful blue haired genius is born into a family of wealth and
power. At that point nobody had any idea that Bulma may actually be
responsible for saving the world some day. Many people overlook her super
important role. Without Bulma Briefs nobody would have had the destiny
that they came to have.
At the age of 16
Bulma found the 2 star dragon ball in her basement, this was the start of
her journey. Before long she found the 5 star dragon ball in a cave. While
off on her mission to round them all up she met Goku. Well, technically
she hit him with her car. After seeing that the boy wasn’t hurt she
decided to convince him to come with her, she told him it was for an
adventure but really it was to be her bodyguard. She needed his strength
and she needed the 4 star dragon ball atop his head.
Bulma had a wish in
mind for the dragon balls. She wanted to wish for a boyfriend. Bulma had
no way of knowing that befriending that little boy with a tail would
ultimately change destiny. Bulma and Goku had many adventures during
Dragon Ball. A giant pterodactyl once abducted Bulma. Also, she met Turtle
and that led her to Master Roshi. Roshi was smitten with Bulma (yes, he is
a dirty old man and smitten by most females but Bulma is a hottie.) She
had to flash him her panties to get the 3 star dragon ball (a girls gotta
do what a girls gotta do). Bulma was turned into a carrot on one of their
quests.
They eventually met
up with the desert bandit. Yamcha became Bulma’s boyfriend. Yamcha was a
bad guy turned good – much like her future husband (I know Vegeta and
Yamcha are VERY different but ya gotta admit that they both softened just
a little for Bulma) Her and Yamcha spent many years together. The
relationship was volatile to say the least. He lived at Capsule Corp with
her for a while as well. Yamcha did not stay true to Bulma and in the end
they split.
Bulma came into
Dragon Ball Z as a woman. Her role was once again crucial as she figured
out how to work the scouters that the Saiyans brought. Bulma’s genius
was once again a very important part of the whole picture.
She felt sad at
Yamcha’s death because even though they were no longer a couple she had
secretly held onto a lot of emotion for him. As she watched him die on the
television she cried out for him. Later
she confessed she planned to marry him.
They never did really get back together, and eventually they
developed into a close friendship.
She learned how to
speak Namekian (she is so smart!) so that she could help get the ship to
the planet where they could gather the Dragon Balls of Namek. She traveled
there with Gohan and Krillen. …. Bulma complained – A LOT.
Back on Earth, after
wishing back everyone that Freeza had killed, she started making eyes at
Vegeta. She called him “homeboy” and that incensed him! She even said
he was “kinda cute” – this did not go over well. Vegeta called her a
“bonehead”.
We get really jipped
by the gap in the story of how Bulma and Vegeta get together. I want
this story dammit! (And no I
do NOT buy into any of the fan fics that Bulma got knocked up and he
stayed because of that – Vegeta isn’t the time to stay over a brat.
It was her, it was all her.)
At some point she
meets Future Trunks
and has a fondness for him. She had no idea that her maternal
instincts were kicking in. It’s a good thing she didn’t hit on him!!!!
Also, she had no idea that she had actually been the one to send him back
in time.
Bulma is a good
mommy to baby Trunks. She keeps that adorable little hat on his head and
always makes sure to yell at anyone who upsets the child – yes, even
Vegeta. Bulma is pretty much a single mom even though Vegeta is kind of
there.
Bulma is annoyed by
her husband on a regular basis but also loves him dearly. He is gone much
of the time because of his need for training. After Vegeta starts hanging
around more (after he met and lost Future trunks) Bulma and him get
closer. She is a strong woman to live with a man who never openly shows
any display of affection. She is confident enough in herself and in her
relationship to be able to tolerate this.
Bulma created
Gohan’s horrible Saiyaman outfit (WHAT was she thinking with that
helmet?!?!) At the tournament she was cheering for Trunks with a
fierceness – her and Chi Chi exchanged quite a few words about whose son
was best (to me it is soooo obvious – Vegeta’s boy is best, no offense
to Goten personally)
When Vegeta went
Majin she was devastated. Watching him become evil again shattered her
heart. She didn’t know where the good man she loved had gone. She
persisted and did what she thought was the right thing (even when she is
being loud and bitchy her heart is in the right place). She put her skills
to use and began searching for the dragon balls again. She brought back
the people Vegeta had killed. Bulma didn’t know that Vegeta was getting
ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. Far away in a fight with Majin Buu,
Vegeta declares his love for Trunks and Bulma right before blowing himself
to smithereens. His death and sacrifice moved her greatly... when she was
told of his death she calls out to the sky shouting his name in pain of a
broken heart for her mate. Vegeta gets to come back to Earth after a
while.
Vegeta and Bulma
have another baby; a little girl named Bra. She looks a lot like Bulma.
She acts a lot like her mom too, though her father's personality
definitely shines through as well. Bulma creates the brute ray, which
transforms Vegeta into a Super Saiyan 4.
We watch Bulma go
through her teens, her twenties and up. Bulma changes clothes and
hairstyles (15 times I think) more than anyone in the show. So what is
Bulma’s great accomplishment that I mentioned at the beginning of my
biography? Basically it boils down to this – if Bulma hadn’t
befriended Goku they would have never been in a position to stop the bad
guys and DBZ would have never existed. It's a domino effect and proves how
everything happens for a reason. Thank Kami for Bulma "Ms Bail
the boys out" Briefs!
